Bringing Health Care Directly to Students
Bringing Health Care Directly to Students
The Adams 12 Five Star Schools District, in partnership with Kids First Health Care, and the City of Thornton, has made healthcare more attainable for its students. This week, they unveiled their new School Based Health Clinic (SBHC) at Thornton High School.
Over the summer, Taylor Kohrs and Eidos Architects teamed up to convert two classrooms into a 1,800 sq ft health clinic. Work included saw cutting and trenching through the school hall way to tie into the sanitary sewer line, demoing the classrooms and building out the space. The SBHC has three exam rooms, a counseling room, a health education room, work room, office and front reception area.
The new health clinic offers a variety of free services to the students including, checkups, immunizations, injuries, illness, mental health assessment, treatment for drugs and alcohol and a space to discuss confidential matters with medical personnel.
Taylor Kohrs is proud to have been a partner in creating a safe place for our community’s students to receive proper health care.
