Taylor Kohrs partnered with Adams 12 Five Star Schools and DLR Group Architects to upgrade Hillcrest Elementary School with MEP and structural upgrades to ensure safe and functional facilities for students. The work primarily took place within the crawlspaces of the elementary school, which required confined space training for all project participants.
Taylor Kohrs facilitated existing access to crawl space by removing existing landscaping and sidewalks to make the existing access entry point larger, as well as saw cutting a new access point in the foundation wall on the southside of the building. Sand blasting was required to determine the severity of corrosion on the structural steel joists and deck. Joists were repaired, hydronic piping was demolished and replaced with new insulation, and waste and waterline piping was demolished with new sanitary piping installed. New copper waterlines were installed, as well.
