Partnering with Greccio Housing and KEPHART, Taylor Kohrs built a new 54-unit affordable housing complex for seniors aged 62+ in Colorado Springs. The three-story wood frame building over a post-tension concrete slab on grade consists of a mix of one- and two-bedroom units with integrated amenity spaces and parking. The exterior materials included a mixture of brick, stucco and lap siding. The 49,000 sq ft building also includes community rooms, fitness and recreation facilities, and an outdoor rooftop patio overlooking Pikes Peak. The main entry leads into a central common area with access to the site manager, a large area that can be enclosed for family or private functions, and a grab-n-go library. Other amenities the building offers are an in-unit laundry, extra storage, business center, and a service-partner work space. During construction, Taylor Kohrs made dedicated efforts to be good neighbors to surrounding homeowners and businesses. The exterior of the building was designed to complement the existing established neighborhood aesthetic and water-wise landscaping was also included.
